Noah James Mass wastes no time making a statement. "I Am the One" opens sparse and dry, a clean guitar and a restrained pulse, and then the first chorus crashes in at 0:52 and everything changes. Distorted electrics, heavy drums, a wall of sound that stops you cold before you're ready for it. That quiet-to-loud whiplash doesn't get old no matter how many times I replayed it.

The vocal performance is the center of gravity here. There's a raspy, strained quality to the delivery in the choruses, a voice pushed to its edge and belting through it anyway, and it sells every ounce of longing in the lyrics. It doesn't sound polished. It sounds true.

Recorded at Make Believe Studios, my self-titled debut album is a 7-track collection of hook-heavy, filmic rock built around custom BilT Guitars, energetic live drum tracking, and raw room tones.

You hear all of that in "I Am the One." The room feels alive, the drums feel live, the fuzz has weight. Then 2:40 hits and a snare build through the bridge propels the track into its final chorus, where the lyric shifts from "there is a one" to "I am the one", a small change that lands like a punch.
