The word "strange" gets shouted so many times on Mingo Drive's debut single that it starts to feel like a mantra. A confession. The trio wastes no time, the guitars come in thick and distorted, the cymbals crash relentlessly, and within seconds you're locked into something urgent and a little unsettling.

"Strange Happenings" leans hard into that tension. The bass riff is gritty and low, the kind that rattles around in your chest, and the haunting chants underneath the verses add a layer of unease that keeps you on edge right up until the chorus opens up. The vocals carry a raw, lived-in edge that makes every repeated "strange" land with more weight than the last.

We wanted this song to feel like the world has gotten a little stranger as you've gotten older, says Mingo Drive frontman Justin Scott. There's something about Halloween that makes that feeling even more fun to lean into. We wanted it to be a little eerie and cinematic, but at the same time, we wanted a chorus that people could really let loose with.

Formed in 2024 and already debuting live at a sold-out show with Third Eye Blind at Cain's Ballroom, Mingo Drive is moving fast. That chorus will follow you home.
