I love how "Confetti" starts with a bassline that is steady and propulsive, the kind of rhythm that gets your foot moving before your brain even registers it. The drums stack right behind and suddenly you're inside something bright and fast-moving, almost celebratory... except the lyrics aren't celebrating anything.
Ashley Jean is singing about the wreckage after a relationship collapses, words shredded into confetti like they meant nothing, and yet the whole track bounces. Her voice stays direct and clear throughout, but there's one moment where the melody dips and she delivers the line with just enough restraint that you feel the sting underneath the surface.
Pure forward momentum.
The guitars shimmer without going soft. Brian Bond's production keeps everything tight, no wasted space, no moment where the track loses its nerve. For a song written last, "Confetti" sounds like the one that always knew exactly what it wanted to be.
