Loser Demon's "Roulette" pulled me in before I even had a chance to settle. The Riverside four-piece slam a distorted guitar riff against a pulsing synth arpeggio and then just... hold. No release. No breath. It's dense and urgent and a little overwhelming, and I mean that as a compliment.
What gets me is how locked in everything is from the jump. The raw vocal delivery, fuzzy guitar and the electronic pulse hit together like they were always supposed to coexist, running on a relentless four-on-the-floor beat that keeps momentum rolling without ever tipping into mechanical. Gritty. Heavily compressed. Loud.
Industrial rock bones with a dance-punk heartbeat. That's the move.
The production texture is rough in a way that feels deliberate, not sloppy. Everything is distorted and stacked and pushing against itself, which makes it wild that Keith, Dan, Zach, and Kyle built this whole thing out of a 10x10 backyard setup. It sounds way bigger than the room it came from.
"Roulette" is the third single from EP3, due August 18. I keep going back to that opening guitar-synth lock-in. Can't shake it.
