Jalisa Denice's new single "Can I Tell You" is the kind of R&B I didn't know I needed right now. The production does serious heavy lifting from the jump: a deep, pulsing synth bassline that sits like a slow heartbeat underneath everything, giving the track this physical weight that keeps pulling you forward without ever feeling rushed.

The verses are stripped back, almost bare, and that's where the intimacy sneaks up on you. Just Jalisa's voice and that low throb of bass, and she sounds so close… like she's telling you something she hasn't told anyone else. Her delivery is breathy and controlled at the same time, and there's a moment mid-verse where her phrasing drops into this low, relaxed pocket that stopped me cold.

Then the chorus opens up. The harmonies stack into something choral and full, and after those minimal verses, the shift floors you. Pure warmth.

The whole thing lives in that sweet spot between classic 90s R&B and something that sounds of the moment. I loved it on the first spin. Been back three times since.
