A Vulnerable Pivot for the Sister Duo

Bowling Green, KY band Girl Tones, composed of sisters Kenzie and Laila, will release their debut album 'Precious' on November 6. The record will arrive via Parallel Vision and Big Loud Rock. Produced by Brad Shultz of Cage The Elephant, the project represents a milestone for the group, following early streaming success and placements on Amazon Music's list of Artists to Watch for 2026.

The release of the title track signals a departure from the muscular rock songs the band has previously issued. 'Precious' is framed as a vulnerable ballad dealing with the loss of the sisters' grandmother, leaning into themes of personal growth and creative freedom. The accompanying official music video was directed by Emily Buchwald.

Building on Career Momentum

Prior to 'Precious', Girl Tones established themselves with early singles such as 'Blame', 'Cherry Picker', 'I Know You Know', and 'Again', which accumulated over 1.4 million streams. Their profile expanded further when their song 'Fade Away' was featured in the season 1 finale of the Netflix series Crew Girl. Their touring history includes stints with Dexter and The Moonrocks, Peter McPoland, and The Rare Occasions, alongside performances at festivals like SXSW, Treefort, The Great Escape, Bottlerock, Bonnaroo, and Lollapalooza.

Our Abuelita passed away in 2020, and the song came from experiencing the grief of losing a loved one. She always referred to us as her 'Precious'. The handwriting on the cover is actually from a card she sent to me. We worked on the album for a while, and it's so precious to us. Around the time we said goodbye to her, I started dating my now-husband. As much as the song is about losing a loved one, it's also about gaining a new loved one.
