Xavi Fernz opens with "Afterlife" and it hooked me inside the first few seconds. That synth bassline locks in and stays locked, warm and pulsing, pushing the whole track forward with a danceable momentum I wasn't expecting from a song rooted in loss.

The vocals sit right on top of the bright electronic production, smooth and measured, and then mid-song the voice stretches just slightly past its comfort zone on a sustained note and you feel exactly what's being sung. It's small. It lands anyway.

When I first started writing songs they were all about heartbreak, but this song was different. Afterlife is a song about love and the idea that no matter what in life or in death that will never go away.

That's the thing about this track… it sounds like a pop song but it's carrying something heavier underneath all that crisp, wide production. Every element has its own clean space to breathe, and the brightness of the instrumentation against the grief at the center of it hits somewhere specific.

A strong debut. Watching closely.
