"Alone Tonight" by Toby Gad and JERUB is a must listen to, and I haven't said that in a long time. No drums. No beat drop or nothing to hide behind. Just a piano, some strings, and a vocal that earns every second you give it.

What pulls me in first is how bare it all is. The piano carries the entire rhythmic pulse, and it works because JERUB's voice fills every gap around it. He opens in this close, almost conversational register, like he's talking to you through a wall at 2am, and then the chorus hits and he opens up, belting with a warmth I wasn't expecting.

Pure ache. That's the whole thing.

That shift from near-whisper to full-throated cry is the emotional spine of the track, and when the choir arrives in the second half... something changes. What started as something private suddenly feels communal, like everyone who's ever felt hollow on a holiday night is in the room.

The strings underneath never crowd the space. They just deepen the loneliness the lyric is already sitting in. Restrained production, trusting the song. And the song shows up. Amazing!
