TaniA Kyllikki's "HUMAN" opens with her powerhouse vocal technique riding a powerful flow of rising beats and synths. I needed nothing else, I was already all in.
The production, handled by her husband Rynellton, builds with that old-school tension-and-release energy, sweeping upward before the four-on-the-floor kick takes over and just carries the whole thing forward. There's a warmth to it that feels lived-in, not assembled in a laptop at 2am for trend points.
What stopped me cold was the vocal. TaniA belts into the upper register with this gospel fire that cracks open on the emotional peaks, vibrato landing at the end of each phrase like punctuation. Pure conviction. The backing harmonies stack into something resembling a full choir, call-and-response style, and the chorus feels enormous because of it.
The themes, empathy, equality, what it even means to be human, come through in the melody as much as the words. It doesn't feel preachy… it feels urgent. Like someone who actually needed to make this song.
"HUMAN" is a standout cut on FREE-SPIRITED. One of those tracks I kept running back to.
