Noone's "C'est La Vie" pulled me in fast. The track opens with a spoken-word delivery that feels deliberate, almost confrontational, before a clean delayed guitar riff locks in and refuses to leave. It threads through the quietest moments and the loudest ones. Works every single time.
What stopped me cold was the vocal range. The verses hit tight and rhythmic, clipped rapping that leaves no room to breathe... then the pre-chorus opens into something melodic before the chorus erupts into full rock belting. That shift from rapid-fire delivery to full-throated soaring is a lot to pull off in one song. Noone pulls it off.
Dean Miller's production rides those loud-quiet-loud swings hard, making each chorus land heavier than the one before. The bridge drops close and breathy, so when that final push comes, you feel it in your chest.
Whenever you find yourself in the court of public opinion, choose few words and let your defence rest. Judge, Jury and Exexutioner be damned; Whether in the sentiment of a French Poet or the last alleged words of Ned Kelly on his day of reckoning -"Such Is Life" (C'est La Vie).
Self-mastery. Emotional discipline. I couldn't stop replaying it.
