Miss Verona's "Bad for My Reputation" opens with a spoken dialogue. A tense little argument, two voices, no music yet. By the time that pumping synth bassline finally crashes in, you're already deep in the mess.
The four-on-the-floor drive is relentless. Bass pulses under everything like a heartbeat refusing to slow, and the synths push the whole thing into club-pop territory without letting go of the hook. I kept replaying the chorus because it lodged itself somewhere in my skull and refused to leave.
Her lead vocals stay confident and sassy throughout, and then the bridge hits and she switches into this rapid-fire rhythmic delivery that sounds nothing like the melodic chorus… which makes both moments land with twice the force.
The whole song orbits that familiar war Miss Verona is describing, knowing someone is wrong for you and wanting them anyway. She puts it plainly: "Sometimes the person who is worst for you is the hardest one to let go." You feel that in every layer.
Addictive track. Full stop.
