The New Single and Upcoming Debut
GRAMMY-nominated artist, songwriter, producer, and director Mez released his new single 'Platinum Fubu,' featuring UMI, via Mass Appeal. Produced collaboratively by D. Phelps, Mez, Chris Payton, and LDG, the track explores the uncertainty of a relationship without a label. Thematically, it questions where a new connection may lead and embraces the ambiguity of two people caught between keeping things loose and taking a chance on something more.
The single arrives alongside the official announcement of Mez's highly anticipated debut album, 'Electric Future Gangster.' The full-length project is set to arrive on November 20, 2026. 'Platinum Fubu' serves as the latest preview of the record, following his recent single 'Still Loading.'
A Dynamic Career in Music and Film
The Raleigh, North Carolina native first gained widespread industry recognition for his foundational contributions to Dr. Dre’s critically acclaimed 2015 album 'Compton,' where he wrote on 14 of the project’s 16 tracks. He later appeared on two songs from Dreamville’s GRAMMY-nominated compilation 'Revenge of the Dreamers III.' Continuing his collaborative streak, Mez was also featured on Dahi’s album 'Black Boy (Alternative)' and the 'Creed III' soundtrack.
Beyond the recording booth, Mez has expanded his creative footprint behind the camera. He made his directorial debut with the music video for J. Cole’s 10x-platinum single 'Middle Child,' and has since directed visuals for artists like Ari Lennox, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, and Dahi. His visual work extends to commercial projects for major brands including Jordan Brand and Nike. Building on this multifaceted career, Mez founded Heirs Entertainment, which operates the production arm Made By Heirs in partnership with Kareem 'Biggs' Burke.
