Harmish's "I'd Never Make It Through" pulls you in close fast. There's a single cyclical pattern underneath it all, looping with the kind of patient repetition that starts to feel like being stuck inside a thought you can't shake loose. The lo-fi texture sitting in the background, perfectly designed to barely be noticeable, only adds to it. You feel like you're in the room alongside all of this.

The vocal is what stopped me cold. There's a rasp and a slight strain to it, conversational in tone but carrying real weight, like someone working through something difficult out loud rather than performing it. It doesn't reach for polish. It doesn't need to.

It is called Significant Others, so I suppose that is significant! The first two tracks are stand-out, but every track has something I love in it. If it gives me goose-pimples, I know I'm onto something.

That instinct is all over this track. As a cut from Significant Others, an album that spent over a decade finding its shape, it carries a lived-in feeling you can't fake. I connected with and felt attached to this album after just one listen -and that doesn't happen often.
