"Share of Your Love" opens with acoustic guitar strumming that has this easy, playful bounce to it, like someone just sat down at a kitchen table and everyone else wandered in. And then the full band enters. The whole thing just lifts.
Daniel Eagle's voice sits in a warm, soulful register through the verses, restrained and a little searching, and then the chorus comes and he opens right up and belts it, that shift between those two modes keeping you locked in the whole time. The vocal performance doesn't stay in one gear...
The slide guitar earns its place here. It pulls the track toward something rootsy, almost Americana, underneath what is otherwise straight indie folk, and it stops the song from sounding like a hundred other things you've already heard this year.
Seven people. That's a lot of moving parts. But "Share of Your Love" holds together, the rhythm section grounding everything while the arrangement breathes around it. Love, loss, the messy middle of early adulthood, it's all in there, and it lands because the playing feels lived-in, not rehearsed.
