"metalLIC" opens on a lone synth arpeggio, and then the drums land and everything locks. The New Citizen Kane wastes zero time. That pulsating backbone runs through the whole track and does not quit.
What floors me is the shift between the verses and the chorus. Verses feel close, the vocal delivery pulled back and almost conversational, a voice that carries a dry, focused edge. Then at 1:04 the synth pads swell, and it opens into this wide, reverb-drenched register on "Free to feel" that sounds like the roof came off. Pure release.
The first in the 4-part rollout of PSYCHEDELIKA Pt.2, this is the work I am most proud of to date! Fundamentally at it's core the EP asks a question: are we willing to wake up & challenge our beliefs? Some songs are personal & vulnerable, some are philosophical, some are political - but the music is rhythmic & upbeat throughout, maintaining a balance of thoughtfulness & movement through my rhythm & synth sound.. I hope you love it!
That balance is not theoretical here, you can hear it moving. I've had "metalLIC" on repeat and I'm nowhere near done with it… the opener for PSYCHEDELIKA Pt.2 sets a serious bar.
