"Here Come The Robots" by Tamela D'Amico is a shot of 80s brass and modern nu-disco house I could not stop replaying. The concept alone is wild: a track about artificial intelligence, inspired by Fritz Lang's Metropolis and a real encounter with an AI chatbot, built by humans, designed to make you move. The irony is not lost and neither is the fun.
Producer Wolfgang Lohr lays down a funky bassline that anchors the whole thing, especially when the arrangement strips back and just lets it breathe. The filter sweeps build with real momentum, and those retro synth-brass textures give the track a warm and slightly absurd personality that fits the theme like a glove.
The vocal chops and processed exclamations scattered throughout deliver a call-and-response energy, short, punchy, almost robotic in their rhythm...which feels like exactly the point. D'Amico's lead cuts through clean and bright, each phrase landing with a crispness that stops the track from ever feeling heavy despite how much is stacked in the arrangement.
Playful and sharp at once… and that combo is harder to pull off than it sounds.
