Sheykh Forever, the project of London-based, Iraqi-born artist Mostafa Al, arrives with Fire in the Master’s House, a 14-track album four years in the making, written, produced, mixed, and mastered entirely at home. In this case, that background matters because the record sounds built from the inside out, with no outside hand softening its intent.
I feel a lot of darkness and urgency, and that has never changed.
That self-description isn't a pose. The title track, "I'm Your History," earns it. Bright, driving synth-pop pulls you in before the music fractures into distortion and noise, and the vocal delivery shifts from clean melodic singing to something rawer and more abrasive. It's experimental pop that uses genre conventions as a starting point before dismantling them with apparent purpose.
The pull between accessibility and abrasion is where the record lives. Four years of home recording produced something genuinely uncompromised, and on this track the darkness Al describes isn't atmospheric decoration but the actual architecture of the song.
