From Child Actor to Indie Rock Frontwoman
New York City-based indie rock and pop musician Rivkah Reyes will release a debut EP titled Fan Favorite on November 6. Produced by Constantine Anastasakis, the upcoming collection leans into a blend of bubblegrunge, emo pop, and lesbian rock. The project serves as a major transition from Reyes' early days as a recognizable child actor to a fully realized musical artist.
Alongside the EP announcement, Reyes has released a new single called Menace. The track focuses on the concept of fully committing to a bad decision, which continues the overarching themes of the record. Fan Favorite explores feral femininity, the complications of messy relationships, and the realization that being widely liked is not the same as practicing self-love.
I grew up on bands like Paramore, Hole, and No Doubt, and more recently fell in love with artists like The Beaches and Annie DiRusso, so this EP lives somewhere between bubblegrunge, emo pop, and lesbian rock. Every song is a different flavor of wanting to be chosen, and learning that maybe being everyone's fan favorite isn't the same thing as loving yourself.

A Background in Comedy and Film
Reyes first shot to fame as a child actor, notably playing the bassist Katie in the acclaimed 2003 comedy film School of Rock. Born in Chicago, the artist learned to play guitar at four years old and later performed musical comedy with Second City during their twenties. Continuing to balance acting and music, Reyes has recently secured roles in film and television projects. These include One Of Them Days alongside SZA and Keke Palmer, the Netflix release The Merry Gentleman, Gianna with Margaret Cho, and Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls.
Building Momentum for Fan Favorite
Ahead of the upcoming EP, the musician built a foundation with a string of previous singles. Prior releases include Debt Collector, Miss Congeniality, another vice, Big League Chew, and sick. The latter track gained notable recognition when it was named to Rolling Stone's Songs You Need To Know. In the summer of 2026, Reyes further showcased their live musical progression by performing a session for Jam In The Van.
As a person in recovery, I know a thing or two about replacing one addiction with another. For me, relationships have definitely been one of them. 'Menace' was inspired by a rooftop hookup with an ex: Billy Joel’s ‘Vienna’ playing, me chugging blue Gatorade in a red bikini, fully aware I was making a terrible decision and doing it anyway.

The arrival of Fan Favorite this November marks the culmination of Reyes' ongoing artistic evolution. Drawing from personal experiences with addiction, recovery, and the tendency to replace one vice with another, the EP promises an unapologetically queer introduction to the next phase of their career.
