I Plead Irony's "Architect Effect" pulled me in before I had time to think. The guitars are compressed and stacked, crashing into each other like a wall of noise, and the synth arpeggios underneath add this dense, almost industrial texture I wasn't expecting from a three-piece rock band out of Farnborough.
Rauf's vocals carry a gritty, desperate edge, clean melodic lines sung like every word costs something. Friction. That's the word.
And then the guitar solo. Over a minute of it. Paul lets it breathe, lets it build, soaring and melodic in a way you just don't hear in contemporary alternative rock anymore. It earns every single second.
The production keeps a driving pace throughout, upbeat but weighty, and the post-hardcore energy running underneath the cleaner rock structure gives "Architect Effect" this restless push-pull that kept me locked in… I replayed the back half three times just to sit inside that solo again.
This band knows how to play. If this track is any indicator of where This Monologue Conversation goes, I want the rest of it right now.
