Ferenc Kondász, the Hungarian-born producer and DJ who records as Ferkó Ferrari Molto, released "Genova" on his own Tonomoltono label on October 22, built from personal impressions of the Italian port city and developed while processing photographs of Genoa's historic centre, scooters, and industrial harbour.

Genova is a driving, dark and cinematic techno track inspired by my personal impressions of the Italian port city.

That word "cinematic" is doing real work here. Kondász spent twelve years in Rotterdam before settling in Tuscany, and he brings a northern European techno sensibility to a distinctly Mediterranean subject. The pull between those two identities gives "Genova" its character. The track is unrelenting...anchored by a pulsing bassline and a synthesizer sequence that loops with the steady drive you associate with a city that never eases up. The distortion and noise feel less like production detail and more like the grit of a working harbour rendered in synthesizer. This techno album feels like a documentary; instead of following typical genre rules, Kondász shaped the tracks directly around his own real-world sights and emotions.
