Eli Wise's "Everyone Goes Through Something Like This, But That Doesn't Help" off Ghosts and Logic pulled me in fast and did not let go. The acoustic guitar and melodic bassline lock together from the jump, building a groove that feels light on its feet but carries real momentum underneath it. There is something almost bouncy about the verses, and then that bridge arrives and the whole track shifts into something harder, more urgent.
The song is about losing creative work to a crashed hard drive and then watching the rest of life pile on top of that. Who hasn't been there. What gets me is how Wise plays it... his delivery is conversational, slightly quirky, like he's walking you through the whole disaster over coffee. Then the chorus comes in and suddenly it's bigger than you expected.
Pure gut-punch.
The production is clean without being sterile. The bass has room to breathe in the mix, the mid-tempo feel keeps things moving, and the lyrics earn every second you give them.
I've had this on repeat all morning.
