Dan Webb's "Things Rise and Fall" pulled me in before I even had time to prepare. At 0:07 the bassline arrives, deep and rubbery, and it just does not let go. I was nodding along before I'd registered anything else in the mix.
Then the clean guitar riff layers in and the whole track snaps into focus. There's a warm funk energy here, the kind that feels lived-in, like speakers cranked loud in a late-night basement. The synth lead that cuts through at 0:19 is bright and punchy, slicing straight across the groove without losing it.
But 1:00... that's the moment. The track opens into a wider, more dramatic synth section and something in the emotional temperature just climbs. It soars. I kept replaying that transition just to feel the shift again.
Pure groove.
Webb produced, arranged, composed, and mixed the whole thing himself. The low-end stays punchy without ever getting muddy, and those 1980s synthesizer tones sit warm against a clean, bright mix. Logan Kane's bass presence is all over this, and you feel it in your chest. "Things Rise and Fall" is the second single from Webb's forthcoming fifth album Lion Dance, due November 13.
