"Stone Against Stone" is one of those recordings where you can feel the room. Dalibor tracked this live in a camper van, voice and acoustic guitar, no processing, nothing added, and that decision is all over every second of it. The guitar sits right up close, fingerpicked in a slow repeating loop that pulls you somewhere quieter before the vocals even arrive.
And then the voice comes in and everything narrows.
The delivery is breathy and low, conversational, like someone thinking out loud at 2am rather than performing for a mic. What stopped me cold was the chorus, around the one-minute mark, where the vocal register lifts and those notes stretch out, exposed and unhurried, nothing underneath them but the pick on the strings. No safety net. Just the take as it happened.
The lyrical territory is reflection, isolation, time moving quietly past you… Dalibor has said they'd rather not explain the meaning, and honestly that's the right call. The song leaves space. I kept filling it differently each listen.
A debut. Sounds like a decade of work.
