Adam Wedd's "soar" stopped me cold. It sets the tone for Hangover Full of Memories, delivering an indie pop sound that wastes no time making you feel something. The acoustic piano provides a steady heartbeat, grounding a wide open mix that builds slow and heavy. The vocal delivery shifts from an intimate, breathy lower register in the opening verses to a powerful, soaring high-register explosion that breaks you by the chorus.

I love when a track feels huge but keeps a pulse. Wedd recorded the grand piano and vocals with Marek Deml at McFly's London studio, produced the track himself, and sent it to Paul Tipler at Unit 13 Studios for mixing before Tom Hall mastered it at Abbey Road Studios. The lyrics tackle grief and the raw connections we make with friends. At the heart of it is something Peter Holmes used to say:

it's all about loving people for who they are

Written in memory of Holmes, the emotion here hits raw and hard. The piano rings out until backing vocal harmonies wash over the final chord. Tension giving way to stillness.
